Job Purpose

To ensure that the Arabian Adventures (AA) brand, products and services are recognised in the region/market assigned, and more specifically, our tour operators and suppliers are fully versed in the products offered so they can confidently promote and sell our brand. This can be achieved through collating and analysing market intelligence for use by AAs senior management team and presenting and implementing short term product and business development strategies in liaison with the senior management that will support the company's overall long term plans.

Job Accountability


Research, monitor and analyse trends and developments in multiple markets, examining their possible impact on travel to the Gulf region and Arabian Adventures existing operation or opportunity for AA expansion, and to compile market intelligence and competitor reports to senior management.

Recommend initial activity plan for discussion with senior management including targeted promotions for specific markets (as a component of the annual Sales & Marketing Plan) and ensure timelines are met to achieve company profitability.

Formulate individual tour operator targets with senior management for the purposes of the annual Sales & Marketing plan. Work closely with the Contracting Department to establish measurable incentive schemes with tour operators. Implement and monitor success of the incentives to stimulate business growth and reach set targets.

Monitor the performance of commercial partners (individually and by market), making comparisons with DTCM and other tourist authority arrivals figures, highlighting these to senior management as well as recommending tactics, products and offers to overcome possible shortfalls and encourage above-target sales.

Provide marketing support to AA’s clients to fully maximize the coverage of AA’s products within the region, review existing products and make recommendations for product selection and provide options for new programs to achieve AA profitability.

Presents proposals to senior management for new accounts and evaluates existing business ensuring the company’s policies are adhered to in the form of payment procedures and account set-up

Represents the company, both locally and overseas in road shows, trade fairs and other meetings increasing awareness of both AA services and the region. Prepares and conducts presentations (Power point/Visual) for AA’s clients in liaison with senior management according to the specific requirements of each market and product.

Maintain effective contact with DTCM, trade organisations and leisure service providers within AA’s area of operation, to identify and recommend potential products. To sustain a high level of knowledge on the destinations/products on offer including both AA’s own range of products and services as well as those of competitors.

To maintain and continuously develop relationships with hoteliers within the region at a middle management level.

Prepares and submits brief documents for all promotional / operational collateral as per the activity plan for senior management review, maintaining close liaison with DLM Sales Support and Corporate Communications.

Requirements:

Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
Experience


5+ years experience in the travel and tourism industry, with three years in a sales and or marketing capacity.
Knowledge & Skills


Thorough knowledge and understanding of the travel industry including the workings of tour operators, DMCs, international markets, leisure suppliers as well as working knowledge of the functions of travel trade organisations and government tourism bodies.

Knowledge of tourism industry and its global distribution sales channels, e-commerce, direct sales and online marketing.

Essential knowledge of online Sales & Marketing best practices.

Ability to adapt and respond quickly to a fast changing tourism environment.

Experience in the E-Commerce environment with clear understanding of technology in the tourism/hospitality industry.

Understanding and experience with online tour operators and OTA's is essential.

Knowledge of destinations covered by AA is advantageous.

Excellent knowledge of MS Office Applications and company provided software.
Strong negotiating skills, with ability to communicate with external suppliers and customers, to balance the needs of customers and that of Arabian Adventures.
To be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Should be able to be a self motivated team player, pro-active, flexible and well-groomed, capable of understanding the bigger picture and actively contributing to the result.
Job-holder may be required to work additional hours outside regular office hours in order to reach departmental deadlines.
Excellent use of the English language, both written and spoken.
Additional languages are an advantage. Basic knowledge of either written and/or spoken of any of the following languages:- 1. French 2. Spanish 3. German 4. Russian 7. Cantonese/Mandarin 5. Italian 8. Arabic 6. Japanese 9. Korean 10. Portuguese
