Please note that this position will be hired under the subsidiary Continental Airlines divisional work rules until joint work rules are obtained.

Responsibilities

Prepares and cooks hot and cold meals according to recipes, menu specifications, quality standards and FDA guidelines
Rotates prepared products
Controls food wastage
Must comply with Chelsea HACCP requirements
Requisitions and replenishes storeroom supplies
Cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment
Prepares food needed for special functions, charters, menu presentation or cafeteria menu
Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age

High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent required
Frequent exposure to noise and working in hot temperatures up to 90 F
Occasionally enters refrigerated storage at 65 F for raw product and chill box area at 35F to store cooked product
Handles raw and cooked food products
Able to use Bettcher meat slicer, Mannhart vegetable slicer, mixer, blender, oven, stove, grill, steamers, steam- table, utensils and various types of knives
Sterilizing chemicals
Works under time constraints, meet and respond to upcounts in meal production at a moment's notice
Continuous attention to detail on food quality
Pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying items
Continuous standing and walking
Basic cooking skills, sauce preparation
Basic math skills and knowledge of weights and measures
Ability to use a knife for cooking
Training on the job
At least one year of cooking and food preparation
Must not have any written termination warning within the past 6 months
Attendance requirements for current active and inactive employees:
Continental Airlines employees must have 2.5 points or more remaining
Chelsea Food Services employees must have 4.5 points or less
Ability to read, write, and speak English

Must be willing to work any shift in a 24/7 week, including weekends, nights and holidays
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
