Welcome, and thank you for checking in about the opportunity to join our team as a Principal Engineer.


Job Summary: The Principal Engineer is responsible for the configuration control of Delta engines and APUs. This position maintains compliance with applicable FAA, OSHA and EPA regulations and Delta's Technical Operations Policy and Procedures (TOPP) pertaining to the development of equipment alterations and repairs. Additionally, this position reviews incoming manufacturers' service bulletins and other correspondence. Determines applicability to Delta and Delta's customers. Evaluates (using cost/benefit study) whether to make a retrofit recommendation, the development of an incorporation plan and the preparation of the technical documentation utilizing TOPP procedures to affect the plan. This position also involves direct support for shop, hangar and line maintenance in troubleshooting and providing corrective actions, including repair development for assigned equipment. The Principal Engineer performs analysis of reliability trends and develops proactive plans to prevent reliability problems and implements corrective action. As well as provides on the spot engineering assistance for assigned shops. The successful candidate will be responsible for practicing safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Requirements:

Job Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering is required. Airframe and Powerplant License plus 10-15 years experience in a technical aviation related discipline with 4-6 of those years within an aviation engineering organization is considered equivalent. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, multi-task abilities, analytical skills, organizational skills, and time management skills. Prior engine experience, familiarity with airline flight operations and support systems, FAR 121 dispatch regulations, and Microsoft Office is preferred. It is also desireable for candidates to have completed Delta Airframe or Engine Initial Training course and be Line Maintenance qualified (internal candidates only).
