The company: An exciting new dnata division providing travel intermediary products and services.

The Position: Direct and ensure the setup as well as medium and long term IT strategy, relationship and IT delivery for the company. Deliver improvements in business performance for the business area by leveraging synergies within the business area. Envisioning, developing and driving business domain and business area specific IT strategies in full alignment with their business strategies.

Job Outline Envision, develop and drive the IT strategy and infrastructure as well as the annual work programme and IT budgets, ensuring it aligns with and supports business strategy, based on customer needs; recommendations from research; and the technical and functional obsolescence of existing services. Negotiate and agree the ongoing strategic and tactical work programme with senior business managers and supplier partners.

Take complete ownership for the overall delivery of the IT project and ensure that all ensuing projects are approved and initiated as planned and delivered within agreed cost and timescales, in accordance with industry best practice, to meet and ideally exceed customer satisfaction. Review business cases for all investments throughout company projects to ensure that they are cost effective and that their return on investment can be realised and enhancements are beneficial.

Act as the single point of ownership for all IT solutions and services used by the company. Promptly ensure the resolution of issues escalated by senior business managers and conflicting requirements from business units. Liaise and coordinate with other company Senior Management Team members to exploit synergies and ensure the effective delivery of all IT systems and services into the business unit.

Direct research to understand and apply industry trends and direction relevant for the company, ensuring that IT becomes a proactive and innovative enabler supporting the business in creating and sustaining a competitive advantage, and constantly seek and suggest areas of improvement and innovation through more effective use of IT.

Develop effective working relationships with all client partners, stakeholders and suppliers. Maintain a broad and up-to-date understanding of the business, its objective and related procedures. Represent IT in the senior management team. Act as trusted advisor, influencing senior business managers on strategic IT decisions to meet their business needs within both a strategic and tactical perspective.

Assume overall responsibility for effective relationships with all internal and external IT suppliers, including efficient and optimised usage of licences and resources, contract negotiation and ownership, and service execution. Management of suppliers and have overall responsibility for the relationship with the supplier.

Ensure that service level objectives are agreed for all services and that any performance gaps are quickly addressed. Direct staff, partners and suppliers in the speedy resolution of service failures, taking full ownership for the actions of all parties that are involved - suppliers, business and IT specialists - to restore the service with minimum operational disruption and revenue loss. Investigate and initiate opportunities for service and cost improvement. Direct application service managers to ensure incident and problem management as well as preventative and adaptive maintenance and good capacity planning improve services year on year.

As a member of the company exec team, contribute to the strategic and continual improvement of the company, actively participate in internal projects and assignments, and act as a role model leader to all staff.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience


8+ years experience at a middle management capacity in a travel based organisation, preferably within operations
Must have excellent organisational and communicational skills. Analytical thinker, high degree of initiative and a leader of people.
To continuously monitor and improve business processes
In depth knowledge of major travel destinations and players in the market
Travel industry knowledge
Detail orientated
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, even under stress
