An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Revenue Management team. The Revenue Management team optimise passenger revenue through selling the right seat, at the right time, to the right passenger, for the right price. Due to the introduction of new processes and systems and a big investment within Revenue Management a new role has been created. Your new position as Demand Forecasting Specialist will see you analysing and maximising network revenue via the production of effective and accurate forecasts.

The Demand Forecasting Specialist has influence across the Qantas long and short haul networks ensuring the right availability and price settings are deployed to maximise network revenue. You will have direct revenue responsibility and be accountable for market forecasts that directly impact price and availability outcomes for allocated origin /destinations markets.

You will be responsible for:

Development and maintenance of accurate demand forecasts for an allocated set of origin / destination markets
Adjusting forecasts to changing passenger demands
Demand planning management for peak periods and special events affecting multiple markets
Designing and evaluating the effectiveness of individual and joint market strategies
Identifying, developing and executing revenue maximisation strategies
Mapping commercial objectives into both long term and short term revenue maximisation actions
Developing, executing and measuring the impact of availability strategies to improve revenue performance
Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the mathematical and statistical models used in the Revenue Management system and related processes in order to optimise revenue outcomes
Identifying areas where system and process changes are required, designing and implementing corrective strategies in collaboration with stakeholders
Effective collaboration with other members of the revenue management, sales and network teams, ensuring all functions and actions are complementary and co-ordinated

Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will display:

Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Working knowledge of statistics and forecasting techniques
The ability to effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders at all levels
A combination of big picture strategic thinking and attention to detail
A Masters Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or other relevant quantitative discipline
Revenue Management experience
Revenue Management systems knowledge (experience with PROS and/or origin / destination revenue management system an advantage) )
Proven ability to work collaboratively
A flexible approach and adaptability to change
Proven ability to build constructive and effective working relationships
