Responsibilities:

WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

Proactively assist in preparing project design and specifications to ensure that all Bag systems meet the Planning Guidelines and Design Standards (PGDS). Work closely with Corporate Facilities Project Management, SWA Federal Airport Security Team and Airport Operations throughout the installation of all Screening equipment and Bag systems that may affect Southwest Airlines operations. Oversee and manage projects and contracts relating to baggage handling equipment to insure design, cost, maintenance, and operational criteria is met. Manage contracted service provider performance related to BHS and loading bridge maintenance, and approve first line payment requested from project contractors. Identify capacity limitations and work to proactively reduce the risk to our operation.
Develop a good working relationship and act as a liaison between the Screening equipment manufacturers, local TSA Leadership and Station Management
Work with system designers to gain insights and alternatives to improve the performance and cost-effectiveness of our Checkpoint, Bag handling systems and T-point operations.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum five years' construction/repair experience with conveyor systems and related equipment.
Minimum five years' experience with conveyor maintenance programs, managing operations and maintenance contracts for outside vendors.
Minimum three - five years Baggage Handling Systems experience preferred.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Must be able to lift and/or move 75 pounds or more on a regular basis.
Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop on a regular basis.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Must be able to read and understand electrical schematic drawings and troubleshoot BHS control systems.
Must be able to access, read, and understand PLC codes.
Must have knowledge of applicable construction and repair fundamentals, including electrical and mechanical repair gained through trade school courses, training programs, or on-the-job experience.
Must have strong leadership skills to direct maximum performance from outside contractors, and maintain working relationships with internal Customers.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to provide direction in a Team-oriented environment.
Must have good organizational and time management skills.

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Frequent travel required, two to three days per week.

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
