Working within the new Revenue Management team, we are seeking a Manager Revenue Optimisation to join our team based in QCB at Mascot, reporting to the Head of Revenue Improvement.


Within this role you will be responsible for defining the Qantas strategy and framework within Revenue Management processes, training, systems optimisation and provision of business intelligence insights.



The successful candidate for this role will be focused on maximising passenger revenue and route profitability through the delivery of efficiencies and optimising effectiveness. You will be a strong people leader being responsible for a number of subject matter experts tasked with finding solutions to complex business problems whilst being innovative in developing new approaches and delivering on new approaches.



Ultimately this position will see you setting the strategic direction for the Revenue Improvement team ensuring it is consistent with the Qantas vision leading to increased revenue growth and maintain a position of best in class for our Revenue Management function.



Your main responsibilities will include:

Define and establish a robust review methodology to identify short and long term priorities leading to the formulation of a revenue improvement portfolio
Pioneer leading edge solutions to longer term strategic questions
Develop and present business cases to senior stakeholders demonstrating sustainable value to the business
Scope and deliver on opportunities to leverage business benefit and cost reduction, to realise annualised revenue improvement
Develop and deliver a change management strategy and plan for revenue improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment to the Group overarching change program and business strategy
Develop overarching communications strategy, invoking a range of approaches to connect employees with organisational strategy
Scope, develop, support and drive improvements to systems, culture, environment and engagement within Revenue Management and the Revenue Improvement team
Lead revenue management operational research, pioneering new methods and concepts; providing key partner airlines opportunities to contribute
Lead business intelligence and analytics functions providing expert data analysis and revenue reporting solutions
Drive revenue optimisation and improvement through delivery of training programs, coaching and development initiatives to maintain and improve the capability of Revenue Management staff
Develop and implement measures to track and report on the performance of revenue improvement activities and implement processes for ongoing review and analysis
Implement and monitor feedback channels to continuously improve change management activities
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including a rigorous review of the Revenue Management function to establish an overall improvement programme
Ensure internal and external stakeholders have a comprehensive understanding of the activities and needs of the Revenue Management department
Engage stakeholders to implement optimal processes and systems usage and ensure they are involved in decision making where possible

Requirements:

What you’ll bring to the role:

Tertiary level qualifications, preferably with a master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or related business discipline;
Strong business acumen - results / profit orientated;
Extensive revenue management experience and understanding of revenue management theory, practice and systems;
Thorough understanding of strategic evaluation and financial evaluation techniques;
Broad appreciation of wider strategic issues and drivers which shape the aviation industry;
Ability to translate business ideas and strategies into detailed approaches and plans;
Involved in significant change management projects with the ability to drive change;
Ability to manage cross functional initiatives and projects which involve multiple and diverse areas within Qantas;
Proven commercial management experience, with ability to deliver results;
Strong commitment to business improvement;
Well-developed understanding of commercial workings of an airline;
Strong quantitative and analytical skills;
Ability to deliver commercial analysis and provide business critical recommendations;
Extensive experience with managing third party supplier relationships; and
Strong ability to lead, influence and challenge, including proven capability to manage a professional team.
