Working within the new Revenue Management family, we are seeking an Operations Research Specialists to join our team based at Mascot, reporting to the Manager Business Intelligence


As an Operations Research Specialist you will be a thought leader in operational research and a key influencer on decisions that affect the strategy and application of forecasting and optimisation methodologies across the Revenue Management function.



This position is also responsible for ensuring that practices are in line with industry best practice and ensuring the Qantas is seen as a leader in this discipline.


Your main responsibilities will include:
•Drive the identification of revenue improvement opportunities through development of modelling and measuring techniques
•Monitor and deliver improved forecast accuracy, resulting in better revenue performance
•Engage business managers and SMEs to proactively uncover and explore new opportunities that have not been formally identified by business
•Analyse systems outputs and agree configuration of global and key system parameters to ensure system is optimised
•Apply business modelling, problem structuring and analytical skills to complex problems
•Translate business problems into analytic requirements for solution design
•Responsible for initiating process improvement initiatives
•Evaluate current and emerging best practices to deliver improved forecast accuracy and revenue performance and integrate with product development strategies
•Provide mathematical modelling and analysis services to support critical decision making

Requirements:

What you’ll bring to the role:
•Tertiary level education in a relevant discipline (e.g. Operations Research, Econometrics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Physics)
•Ideally suited to candidates with an advanced degree (Honour’s, Master’s)
•Experience in Operations Research or related field preferably within Revenue Management
•Experience solving business problems using stochastic, heuristic or deterministic methodologies, using R, SAS, CPLEX or other analytical tools
•Experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (Python/VBA /SQL/C/C++ )
•Strong skills with Microsoft Office programs particularly Excel
