Responsibilities:

Provides tooling engineering expertise and oversight to the aircraft and facilities tooling management and configuration control activities within Tech Ops.
Assists the Sr. Manager in assuring SWA compliance with various regulatory (FAA, OSHA) requirements.
To further SWA Engineering's realization as a world class organization, critically review, rewrite and consolidate existing procedures that affect tooling configuration management. The objective is to establish viable tooling engineering services to the airline.
Assures compliance with affected procedures, manuals, 14 CFR and industry standard practices through periodic audits.
Collaborates in the development, review and implementation of policies and procedures with other departments to assure proper compliance and best practices.
Manages tooling configuration control and authorizes tooling equivalency based on sound technical justification.
Collaborates with all affected parties prior to approving tooling modifications and substitutions.
Conducts failure modes and effects analyses and safety assessments on new tooling designs and modifications.
Creates CAD drawings and documentation of new and modified tools.
Assists Engineering, Supply Chain, Stores and Production with regard to tooling issues.
Prescribes and oversees tooling maintenance programs, testing and calibration standards and intervals for critical tooling.
Provides consultation on tooling to the entire airline

Requirements:

EDUCATION



B.S. degree or equivalent credentials in mechanical engineering or related engineering field required.

EXPERIENCE



5 years engineering experience required.
Technical writing is essential.
Tooling engineering consulting is essential.
CAD drawing knowledge is essential.
Experience with creating a design review function is required.
Ability to present to all levels of leadership required.
Familiarity with 14 CFR requirements is preferred.
Lean continuous improvement familiarity within a Technical Operations/Maintenance/Engineering environment is preferred.
Experience utilizing Microsoft Office products required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION

A&P or ISO 9000 certification training is desirable.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Must be able to speak, hear and remain in a sitting position for long periods of time.
Must be able to travel up to 15%, including overnight stays.

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance

Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in teh United States as definded by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
