Description:

Oversees the continued development of Lufthansa Technik Component Services Compliance Programs to meet US and North/South American regulatory requirements for Customs Import/Export and Material Tax issues as it pertains to Global Trade and Logistics

Tasks:

USA Import Brokerage:

Must be a licensed US Customs Broker and must be the licensed qualifying broker for Lufthansa Technik Component Services
Support, assist Import Customs Supervisor; advise, motivate Customs Team and monitor Team performance
Develop and implement an Import Compliance Program and Manual
Lead the implementation of C-TPAT as it corresponds with AEO standing
Ensure timely and orderly Customs release and billing
Monitor problem files, customer complaints and implement corrective action
Ability to compose a strong position to protest Customs when necessary
Manage audits by Customs offices including liaison with attorneys and other consultants
Stay current and maintain a working knowledge of CBP regulations

Export Compliance:

Support, assist Export Compliance Officer; advise, motivate Team and monitor Team performance
Oversee due diligence
Remain current on laws, regulations and practices and the impact on operations
Provide guidance and assistance in interpreting government regulations

International Trade and Global Logistics:

Research Customs and International Trade issues
Responsible for the development and management of International Trade Compliance
Collaborate with global affiliates to ensure compliance with US and local regulations affecting International Trade
Coordinate with various US Government agencies on global trade issues including the Department of Commerce, State, Homeland Security, BIS, and Defense
Coordinate with and attend meetings of Logistics/Sales staff to ensure compliance in conducting transactions with international affiliates and new international business
Develop and lead International Trade workshops
Interpret Trade regulations and provide guidance to all business units on their application
Develop/implement best practice/policies in all logistics/trade compliance areas
Implement and maintain standardized integrated trade procedures to maximize corporate efficiency and minimize regulatory risk
Help drive continued development and implementation of compliance initiatives
Maintain Trade Compliance related Training Programs throughout the organization
Maintain regulatory internal compliance audits
Support operations and business units, acting as a resource and providing guidance

General Responsibilities:

Internal communications to raise compliance awareness within the company
Maintain organization-wide trade compliance programs and training
Maintain the integrity of the Compliance Program
Assist in the development and implementation of logistics plans, budgets and procedures to maximize the highest level of service to internal and external customers.
Develop new areas and means of revenue generation
Conduct employee evaluations
Conduct regular staff meetings, communicate department goals and expectations
Substantial interaction with Managers and Directors
Perform other duties as assigned
Adhere to Company Quality Management Procedures

Requirements:

Your profile

High school diploma/GED required
College degree/vocational training desirable: Master desirable, Bachelor desirable
Professional experience required: 7 years or more in Logistics/Import/Export and 5 years or more in leadership
Language: English required, German and Spanish desirable
Industry knowledge required: Licensed Customs Broker and Advanced knowledge in ITAR, FTR, EAR, CBP, NAFTA, FTZ, GSP, C-TPAT
Expert knowledge required: Ability to pass Assessment Center
IT Knowledge as user: Excellent knowledge in Excel/Word/Access/PowerPoint, knowledge of SAP R/3 or other ERP system is desirable, excellent use of email, internet, and other computer tools, EAR Sites, ABI, ACH, ACE

Environmental Influences:

Must possess permit to work in the U.S.
Willingness for assessment screening
Willingness to travel
Must possess a valid driver's license
