This is a great opportunity for an experienced Program Manager with exemplary leadership skills to be responsible for overseeing a transformational programme of diverse and exciting initiatives. You will be designing the program plan including timelines and milestones, communication strategies, governance structures, stakeholder management and evolve an already positive environment. Qantas makes a significant financial investment each year in delivering new IT projects and operating its IT environment in which this role plays a pivotal part in the delivery of this investment.

The Program Manager is responsible for planning, driving and directing all aspects of the IT Program plan for a specific business area. The role will own the full life cycle for several projects forming a program of work, providing Qantas with thought leadership, direction and quality services which both predict and meet the needs of Qantas' individual business units and the Qantas group. The Program Manager will be responsible for financial planning, managing costs, projects budgets and providing assurance over the quality and efficiency of the program within the broader portfolio of change, maintaining a strong focus on both 'business as usual' operational activities and strategic business change.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing internal and service partner project managers and delivery resources to achieve business aligned project outcomes.
Monitor and manage the critical path, contingencies, scope changes and budget, both labour and non-labour resources
Excellent stakeholder management skills and be able to work with a varied number and type of stakeholder across the business units
Overall accountability for ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of new and enhanced business capabilities that meet or exceed expectations.
Ensure resource adhere to the established Qantas Project Methodology and standards, while carrying out their responsibilities.
Applying appropriate project management and systems development lifecycle processes to complex information technology projects
Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and respond with appropriate action to control the risks
Develop funding proposals and ensure delivery of services
Lead the development, implementation and review of the program strategies
Oversee the regular review of commitments and expenditures and alert variations
Ensures that the projects are aligned with IT standards and strategies
Managing growth of all aspects of the programs in line with the organisation's strategic plan
Expansion and maintaining mutually beneficial long term relationships with key stakeholders through strong partnerships and communication
Supervising, leading and developing the Program team.
Manage the project spend (including CAPEX) within the approved project's budget and track forecast vs actuals to within a 10% variance monthly and 20% variance quarterly (KPIs for this role)
Direct management responsibility for Project Managers delivery and leadership including; Performance management, Recruitment, Mentoring, Career development and coaching in line with the Qantas values

Requirements:

To be successful you will possess:

Generalist Bachelors or Master’s Degree ideally in Technology related discipline
Project Management certification e.g. MSP or PRINCE 2 qualification
Proven 8-10 years of experience working in an IT/Business Change/Projects environment, an appreciation of IT and an understanding of business strategies including experience of working at a strategic level in an organisation
5-10 years’ experience of working within multi-sourced vendor environment with track record of success with complex delivery
7+ years’ experience in a large corporate organization with experience of building and maintaining effective relationships at a senior level
Experience and demonstrable track record of motivational and achievement oriented leadership, providing clear direction to staff
Demonstrated success developing and evaluating program models and selecting and successfully operationalising innovative programs
Proficient in using technology as a management reporting tool and experience working with information technology staff to develop and implement program evaluation systems
Experience having worked with a senior management team in a collaborative and constructive environment
Strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility, span-of-control and performance
Demonstrated results in managing through complex systems and proven experience negotiating win-win agreements
Must have demonstrated leadership ability, business acumen, and industry knowledge
Proven ability to build and lead integrated teams from various internal and external organizations across multiple sites
Adept at helping team members harness and develop strengths in pursuit of successful program outcomes
Ability to achieve broadly communicated objectives with a minimal amount of supervision and promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change
Ability to make decisions independently and to assume higher-level leadership responsibilities in critical situations
Strong commercial orientation to support Qantas agenda
