The Principal Engineer position is the most senior individual contributor position in Engineering. The role holder will work across the Line Maintenance (LM) ENG team to identify opportunities and to develop proposals for improved efficiency and productivity - ensuring alignment with LM’s 20/20 vision and priorities.



The Principal Engineer is the individual who helps the Head of Line Maintenance in installing improvements into the LM organization.Specifically, the successful individual will work on LM projects and provide improved communication & co-ordination between HK LM, internal customers and out ports;


Develop LM projects which will bring benefits to the entire LM network
To investigate potential improvements in how we work with our home based MROs and regulatory partners
Independently develop improved standards, guidelines and manuals for LM to follow
Keep abreast of industry best practice and work with suppliers to encourage their incorporation



Key Responsibilities:


Demonstrate the benefits in financial terms or operational process improvements
Facilitate the Regional Line Maintenance Operations Managers and TOM to develop the KPIs for HK and outstation LM
At the direction of Head of Line Maintenance ensure that the correct level of oversight is maintained by the Operational Duty Holders and is consistently applied across the network
Work with TOM to ensure the outcomes of HK LM improvements are applied across all fleets
Explore opportunities for better use of aircraft ground time in HK and outstations, initiate and lead LM projects to capture the identified opportunities
Represent LM in industry operational meetings (eg: IGOM)
Taking a lead role in driving the section’s alignment with the 20/20 agenda, ensuring steady progress is made to our world recognition ambition
Work with our external partners operational teams (for Hong Kong - AA, CAD, HAECO, CASL) to ensure that their product development and operational decisions delivers genuine value to the Airlines (CX, KA and LD)
Working within ENG to ensure that the Maintenance Philosophy supports LM priorities to the overall benefit of the business

Requirements:

Likely to have a minimum of 12 years engineering experience in Line Maintenance or in closely related engineering disciplines
Must hold an engineering university degree or equivalent
Strong understanding of ENG 20/20, LM 20/20 and Maintenance Philosophy
Thorough knowledge of the ENG systems and processes
Knowledge of the LM network and LM operations (including HK) and demonstrate a good understanding of the issues
Must have strong analytic skills
Must have proven project management skills
Have a proven performance improvement and delivery focus
Must possess strong relationship management / stakeholder management skills
