Responsibilities:

WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

Responsible for reviewing project requests from internal customers, prepare and supervise preparation of schematic designs and bid specifications, solicit and evaluate bids, prepare and assure execution of contract documents and supervise construction phase of airport facility projects. Supervise development of Architectural and Engineering plans and specifications, assuring projects are designed consistent with Southwest Airlines Standards for customer convenience, operational efficiency and cost containment. Review and give first line of approval on payment requests from project contractors.

Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.



May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred. Degree recommended in architectural, structural engineering or construction management.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years managing construction projects required, other equivalent knowledge and experience may be considered.
Airport facility construction experience required.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Must be able to lift and/or move items of 75 lbs or more on a periodic basis.
Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop on a periodic basis.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Must have strong leadership skills to direct maximum performance from outside contractors and maintain working relationships with internal customers.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to handle complex issues.
Must have the ability to perform well under pressure.

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive on and off line travel required. 75%
Extended and overnight hours will be required to meet project timelines

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
