The Import/ Export Specialist handles all import and export issues ensuring accuracy and working in accordance with Lufthansa Cargo’s requirements and procedures. She/he will provide support and guidance to junior agents and provide training where applicable
Within the operational targets set by the District/Country Manager Aircraft Handling/ Warehouse Handling or District/ Country Manager Sales and Handling or District/ Country Manager Handling or District/ Country Manager Handling or Cargo Supervisor the Import/Export Specialist performs the following duties:
Export/ Import Handling:
Ensures proper processing of export and import inquires as per Lufthansa Cargo requirements and procedures such as
- goods acceptance including “Ready for carriage” check
- processing of discrepancies at acceptance
- preparation and finalization of outbound flights/trucks
- preparation and handling of inbound flights /trucks
- handling of import documentation (delivery, transfer and abandoned shipment)
Oversees the processing of all Air Waybills and HAWBs and ensures accurate data capture as per company’s requirements and procedures
Directs the handling of Special Cargo
Oversees invoicing and acceptance of cash payments
Organizes the performance of Service Recovery activities (example given tracing, warehouse checks, offloads)
Ensures proper Airmail Handling
Fully supports the quality standards
Works according to documented CHM (Cargo Handling Manual) and GOM (Ground Operations Manual) procedures
Ensures the proper application of security requirements of Lufthansa Cargo and local authorities
Contacts customers, informs them of any/all irregularities, and serves as escalation for Import/Export Agent Junior
Handles “BIG” or “OVER LAP” requests as per established procedures
People Management/Supervision:
Supervises the daily activities of the Import/Export Agent (Junior)
Provides regular and accurate staff feedback to the management which will be used as a basis for annual staff evaluations
Performs local training, monitors its effectiveness and implements improvements as needed
General:
Provides feedback to the handling agents, operation agents, cargo supervisor and Manager Handling as applicable
Supports, co-operates, and communicates with all colleagues, including sales
Assists the Cargo Supervisor in ensuring that Import/Export Agent Juniors work according to Lufthansa Cargo requirements and procedures
Provides daily support and training to the Import/Export Agent (Junior)
Performs all other duties assigned or delegated by supervisors
Requirements:
Your profile
High school diploma/GED desirable
Professional experience desirable: 2-3Years, high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in warehouse handling is preferably
Language: English required, German desirable
Environmental Influences:
Must possess permit to work in the U.S.
Must possess a valid driver's license
Airport environment:
Must be willing to work shifts/overtime
Must be willing to work under constant time pressure
Authorities:
In accordance with rules and regulations, and given authorities
Authority to sign receipts for cargo or mail in accordance with acceptance and delivery procedures
Authority to sign Unit Load Devices receipts
Authority to weight and tag pallets
