Analyst – Corporate Planning 12 Month Term



Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Planning, this role will be a resource for the Controller’s Group to deliver high quality business decision support. This will be accomplished through internal management reporting of actual results and future outlooks, and through special projects including assisting with the coordination of WestJet’s critical Business Transformation Initiative (BTI) project.



Responsibilities:



Gathering and maintaining a register of BTI opportunities and key operational and financial metrics
Preparing regular status reports including measuring progress against expected BTI results
Ongoing maintenance, documentation, updates and process improvements of the group’s core models.
Support the coordination, creation and analysis of the monthly financial presentations and forecast for the CFO, Senior Management Team and Board of Directors

Collect and consolidate forecast information from various business units

Provide financial analysis support for the Corporate Planning team. Key partners include the Senior Management Team, Controller’s Group, Treasury, Investor Relations and Corporate Development
Build and enhance financial models to support special projects and business decisions made by senior management
Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Planning and Forecasting tool and process
Be an active member of the Finance team; brainstorm issues, complete ad-hoc requests, and be flexible in completing any task

Requirements:

Experience and Qualifications:



Completion of post-secondary education
Completion of Accounting designation, CFA or MBA
3-5 years of experience in a financial analysis role with a high degree of understanding of overall financial statements and financial ratios
Self-motivated and a self-starter
Attention to detail, organized and thorough, with a desire for continuous improvement
Enjoys working with other teams to discover reasons for financial trends and to obtain answers for financial analysis
Ability to handle pressure and meet tight timelines in an environment with a high volume of activity
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Advanced Excel proficiency and a keen interest in learning new skills and/or technology
Experience in managing and manipulating large amounts of data
Highly functional understanding of MS PowerPoint
Airline industry experience would be considered an asset
Oracle EPM/Hyperion and Management reporting and Business Intelligence experience would be an asset
