The Information Analyst position is part of the Business Insights Centre of Excellence (BI CoE) that is leading Qantas in using data and analytics. You will do this by creating a culture of curiosity that drives continuous innovation and by treating data as an asset and analytics as a core competency. This is a chance to be part of the establishment of a new and growing group which will be foundational to Qantas future success in information management and analytics.
The Information Analyst role will be part of a team that delivers Information assets and BI applications to the Qantas business. Use data and information to help business stakeholders make informed decisions about actions that can be taken to improve the business.

You will be responsible for:
Providing data to people and systems by developing complex queries against a data warehouse and other sources
Productionise data provision and simple reports for repeating requests, working with developers if this requires complex software development
Developing a deep understanding of the business operating model, understanding both the tactical and strategic business objectives
Developing solutions to business problems with a highly detailed level of analysis
Formulating insights and analysis of the information
Working with stakeholders to test the quality and completeness of the information
Demonstrating the accuracy and completeness of the information to the business
Guiding business users in the use of information and how to get it
Promoting the group by communicating across the organisation about successes and the benefits of the information and analysis provided
Presenting insights in a manner which can be readily understood by the business
Possessing proficient technical understanding of Business Intelligence applications and technology environments
Coding and implementing Teradata solutions using SQL
Implementing and governing end-to-end DW solutions using SQL, Teradata, Datastage, Cognos and any other applicable tools and processes
Developing end-user reporting using enterprise tools (eg Power BI)
Designing and performing testing of solutions developed
Actively engaging and supporting data warehouse end users and assist in correcting, improving and modifying SQL queries.
Using tools (e.g. JIRA and sharepoint) and processes to help manage your workload, to communicate what is being done, prioritise work and maximise reuse of previous work
Requirements:
To be successful in this role you will display:
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience
Curiosity about data and a problem solving aptitude
An understanding of business needs and terminology and the ability to relate this to data in a data warehouse
Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills
Adaptability and the capability of multi-tasking, time management
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate ownership of actions
Knowledge of and experience with SQL, Particularly Teradata
