Position: Certification Verification Engineer – Mechanical Design
/ Location: Fairoaks Airport, UK
/ Salary: £40,000 – £50,000


/ Job Information:

The Certification Verification Engineer (CVE) at Gama is primarily responsible for the preparation of mechanical related design and certification data. Working with the Head of Design to improve Company design procedures and to resolve any issues resulting from EASA audits of the design department, the CVE assists in improving the scope of the design department, increasing both design capability and productivity. This role encompasses all other associated tasks to support/improve the Company’s design activities and the CVE is required to represent the company at meetings with both customers and aviation authorities.

Main Responsibilities of position:

Preparation and checking of design drawings and documents, ensuring that all design procedures are adhered to
Assisting with customer quotations where requested
Liaison with customers to address design requirements/delivery dates/queries
Addressing in-service difficulty reports/design queries after completion of a design
Adhering to project timescales/time management of own projects/cost tracking
Maintaining an awareness of current aeronautical practices/issues
Participating with EASA audits
Liaison with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) or tasked National Aviation Authority (NAA)
Developing internal procedures and processes
On-site aircraft surveys
Approval of external testing facilities
Continued professional development: attending training courses, seminars, etc.
Peer group training, e.g. mentoring new staff, developing existing staff knowledge
Providing on-site assistance to aircraft maintenance staff

Requirements:

Detailed requirements for the Position:

Detailed mechanical design processes, including but not limited to:

Material selection

Fasteners

Surface treatment

Environmental testing requirements

– Structural substantiation reports

– Reviewing equipment approvals, e.g. TSO, ETSO

– Weight and balance schedule amendment instructions

– Air test/post flight evaluation requirements

Minimum Requirements:

2 years experience of working within a Design Office environment producing drawings and reports

Further education course (BTEC National/ONC/HNC, etc.) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline

At least five (5) GCSE’s (or equivalent), to include English, Maths, and a Science subject

Autodesk Inventor

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Desirable Attributes:

5 years within an EASA Design Organisation Environment

Experience within an UK MAA DAOS Organisation Environment

Recognised degree level course with a Mechanical Engineering bias

Apprenticeship in an Engineering Environment, ideally with a mechanical background

Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical

Microsoft Access (basic use of databases, programming not required)

Adobe Acrobat

This is a full-time, permanent position and in return for your skills and commitment we are offering a salary range of between £40,000 and £50,000 (dependent on experience) plus pension and full Company benefits.
