Description:

Looking for…. An enthusiastic and energetic person who can operate in a very fast paced environment. An ambitious and diligent assistant buyer or sales analyst who wants to progress in the retail industry and progress in the buying processes. They will primarily have responsibility for creating profitable customer driven strategy and promotions to deliver sales and margin targets.

The right candidate will ….

Have excellent knowledge of the procurement and purchasing practises, consumer needs and sales goals. Successfully manage and contribute to the profitability by increasing the volume of products that are sold within each category, and improving the Average Spend by base.
Achieve category goals, assisting and taking charge of the strategy, by managing underperforming routes and bases.
Have excellent ability to implement strategy and measure results, and be able to make decision and make a difference.
Be an expert of financial analysis reporting, and development of KPI's. Strong mathematical and analytical skills are essential skills.
Have excellent customer focus ensuring that our customers’ needs are achieved at all times.
Have the skills to maintain a productive relationship with suppliers and internally within the business and be able to influence people to get things done. Good people skills and the ability to easily establish a rapport with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds at all levels of employment is key.
Exceptional organizational skills and acute attention to detail are essential for the candidate to have.
The candidate must also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and will ensure that all files and supplier correspondence are kept up to date.
Ability to motivate the remote sales team and crew through incentives, targets and coaching weak performers to improve performance and sales. Help base managers hit targets and understand what is affecting performance positively and negatively.
Be able to keep on top of all supplier management, Product Pricing & general administration including updating buying systems as appropriate.
Reporting and helping to resolve any issues pertaining to Chilled and Frozen range as well as the general product range.
Reviewing and reporting on competitor price positioning and reviewing our position vs them.
Communicating promotions, price changes and new product information to the bases monthly so bases are kept informed and focused on the right objectives.
Ability to work in an extremely fast paced environment.

Requirements:

Minimum requirements for this Job:

4 years’ experience or more in Retail Buying team.
An FMCG or Retail Buying office background
3rd Level Degree.
A passion for retailing and cost management.
Commercial edge and analytical acumen with strong numerical and forecasting skills.
Fantastic influencing and negotiation skills
Buying, negotiation and communication Skills
Range Management, range planning, Supplier Management, Strategic Planning, Financial Acumen and Margin Management skills required
Analysing data and reporting skills important in this role
Strong computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel Level 3, Outlook, Power point ect)
Understanding of the supply chain process.
Successful track record of buying and category management.
