Responsibilities:
WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:
Technical oversight and interface to all SWA internal/external departments for aircraft performance and program changes.
Monitor industry for technical changes that may improve or impact the aircrafts' performance or SWA operations.
Collaborate with industry technical leaders to drive improvements in aircraft design and performance.
Guide the organization to ensure the metrics used are effectively measuring technical changes, which impact performance of the aircraft and Customer service.
Drive changes that create value, reduce cost and improves Customer service.
Monitor and drive positive change using benchmarks against Boeing and industry standards.
Analyze effectiveness of proposed and implemented modifications.
Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.

Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
EDUCATION:
B.S. Engineering, preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial aviation, required.
2 years Leadership/Supervisory experience, required.
2 years Engineering and/or Maintenance Operations experience, required.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:
A&P certificate, preferred.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:
Thoroughly knowledgeable of the Southwest maintenance program, or have relevant knowledge of maintenance programs in general through experience at another airline.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Capable of making effective oral and written presentations to peers, management, and executives.
Able to influence and lead both direct and non-direct reports.
Must be able to read and interpret complex technical manuals, diagrams and schematic.
Demonstrated knowledge/use of PC software, e.g. Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple tasking and tight time constraints.
Knowledge of FAA requirements.
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills; strong ability to persuade and influence People outside area of responsibility and maximize area of influence.
Sets stretch targets for performance and routinely meets objectives.
Frequent travel and extended work hours may be required.
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
