About the Job
Air Arabia is looking for highly motivated individual with a keen attention to detail to join its Safety Department. The selected individual will maintain and update the Ground Operations Safety Policies & procedures of Air Arabia and the Group. This role is also responsible for conducting training programs and assessment related to Ground Operations Safety Group.
Key Accountabilities:
The Ground Safety Officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining all ground operations safety documents such as Manuals, safety procedures and review trainings materials while staying informed with industry’s best practices for continuous development of the company safety. He/she is responsible for conducting program assessments to identify ground operations safety deficiencies and oversees ground operations safety training programs. In addition, the job holder coordinates and conducts work area assessment, surveys, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions; analyzes these hazardous conditions and assigns risk assessment codes for use by departments to prioritize and budget corrective actions. He/ she will also evaluate hazardous conditions and recommends engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or personal protective equipment.
In this role, the Ground Safety Officer collects, analyzes and maintains data essential for ground operations safety and any subsidiaries of Air Arabia group to identify areas for increased training and emphasis on accident prevention. He/she will arrange ground operation safety awareness programs to enhance staff awareness and reduce the number of ground incident and accidents. The job holder is responsible for developing fire prevention program for all employees, including building evacuation procedures, appointment of fire wardens and staff training as well as the administration of the annual fire extinguisher maintenance program and the annual sprinkler system inspection and test program. In addition, he/she will also administer the post-accident Drug and Alcohol testing program.
He/ she will maintain accurate records in the administration of these programs and maintains a computer database for these policies and is also responsible for the preparation of monthly and bi-annual report for review and approval of Manager Safety and presented to Accountable Executive
The selected individual must be analytical, have a keen eye for detail and must be PC literate with an ability to work under pressure in a highly demanding work environment.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Skills:
Educated to a minimum of Bachelor’s degree level in a related field
Professionally qualified/certified in the field of Ground Operations & health safety such as NEBOSH & OSHA
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with the Safety department of an established airline
Must be able to work independently with a diverse and multicultural team
PC Literate and well versed in MS Office Suite / Google office applications
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, Arabic would be an advantage
