Engineering Manager (M/F)

The Engineering Manager will be required to lead, manage, and develop the Engineering and Documentation department and provide expert support to both internal and external customers.

To plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department.

To provide technical leadership for both product and process issues.

Key Responsibilities:

To lead and develop team to achieve world class engineering support services for all external and internal customers
To hire, train and mentor members of the Engineering and Documentation team including coaching, guidance and development of staff members and to identify and develop talent within the department
To manage engineering projects to support the production process and ensure progress is tracked and reported
To participate in the Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services bid process, providing both technical and commercial input
To involve staff in new projects and tasks, delegate and empower staff member considering their ability
To develop solutions to enhance efficiencies both for the department and the wider production environment
To ensure that effective liaison is established and maintained with all other departments/areas which are affected directly or indirectly by the assigned area of responsibility
Ensure that responsible staff complies with relevant procedures and regulations
Establish employee goals and conduct performance reviews with all departmental staff members on an annual basis
Hold regular meetings with departmental staff and ensure information is cascaded as and when appropriate
To communicate effectively so that:
Performance targets are reported in a timely manner
Management is fully briefed on any important issues which are likely to arise
Employees are well informed on matters relating to the Company and their employment
To review the training needs for all personnel on a continuous basis in the area for which you are responsible, taking into account development needs and changes to company processes

Tasks:

To ensure the business complies with Airworthiness Directives and other safety information and manufacturers’ service bulletins etcetera, in order to achieve correct product configuration control
To ensure robust review Component Overhaul Manuals (CMM’s), Approved Technical Publications (ATP’s) and other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) technical documentation such that work undertaken is up to date and technically competent
To facilitate approval of out of scope repairs with the OEMs, so ensure that both repair information is correct and accurate, and provided in a timely manner to the production environment
To ensure workshops and customers are provided with the required engineering support
To ensure configuration tasks are completed in a timely manner to support Production
To assist in the investigation of hazardous occurrences, root cause and corrective actions for both in-house and issues originating from customers in order to analyze, recommend and introduce corrective action as necessary
To assist in the development of new viable capability for the company and the provision of correct tools, equipment, training and spares to support new capability intake as required by the business
Attend production planning, forecasting and management control meetings as required
Any other reasonable duties as may be required by the needs of the business and department

Requirements:

Your profile

2 years supervisory/management experience within an Aerospace Engineering, Maintenance or Planning

Environment:

Ideally the candidate should come from an Aerospace Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) background with experience of leading technical support teams
Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages
Ideally to have experience in leading technical or business improvement projects (Lean/6S/6 sigma)

Personal Qualities:

Team Player
Proven ability to manage a team
Excellent communicator to all levels of the organization, including customer technical interface
Good organizational/time management skills as individual and leader of department
Flexible approach to work
Excellent IT skills (MS Products, MRP/ERP systems, CAD as required)

Qualifications Required:

Degree Qualified 2:1 or better, Aeronautical/Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering
