Job Information:
The successful candidate will work with the Head of Design to improve company design procedures, resolve issues resulting from EASA design department audits and improve the scope of the design department, so as to increase the company’s design capability and productivity. They will have 5 years’ experience within an EASA Design Organisation Environment, 2 years of which will have been producing drawings and reports. They will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with the preparation of various aspects of mechanical related design and certification data together with the ability to supervise staff.
Main responsibilities include:
Preparation of design documents
Preparation of design drawings
Liaison with customers to address design requirements/delivery dates/queries
Checking drawings and/or documents
Maintaining an awareness of current aeronautical practices/issues
Continued professional development: attending training courses, seminars, etc.
Ensuring that all design procedures are adhered to
Assisting with customer quotations where requested
Adhering to project timescales/time management of own projects/cost tracking
Participating with EASA audits
Developing internal procedures and processes
On-site aircraft surveys
Approval of external testing facilities
Peer group training, e.g. mentoring new staff, developing existing staff knowledge
Liaison with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) or tasked National Aviation Authority (NAA)
Addressing in-service difficulty reports/design queries after completion of a design
Providing on-site assistance to aircraft maintenance staff
Supervision and co-ordination of design engineers (mechanical).
Ensuring the design engineering team (mechanical) deliver completed projects on-time and within agreed budgets.
To carry out annual staff appraisals, set key objectives and operating plans, monitor progress throughout year.
Requirements:
The Person:
All applicants should have as a minimum completed a further education course (BTEC National/ONC/HNC, etc.) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline and be proficient in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD mechanical and Microsoft office packages.
Detailed mechanical design processes, including but not limited to:
Material selection
Fasteners
Surface treatment
Environmental testing requirements
Structural substantiation reports
Reviewing equipment approvals, e.g. TSO, ETSO
Weight and balance schedule amendment instructions
Air test/post flight evaluation requirements
This is a full-time, permanent position.
Based at Fairoaks.
