Your new role will see you responsible for delivering the external financial reporting and governance requirements for the Qantas Group and providing support to the business units on the application of accounting policies and standards.

Your core responsibilities will include:

The planning and delivery of all aspects of the Group's external financial reporting requirements for half-year end and year-end including ASX lodgements (4D and 4E); the annual report (including the directors report and remuneration report); financial statement analysis pack; and provision of support and review of the investor presentation, media release and annual review
The identification of key accounting issues pertaining to the Group and preparation of accounting papers detailing these accounting issues and the proposed accounting treatment
Consistently monitoring external reporting developments and assessing their impact on the Qantas Group
Partnering with business unit finance teams to support the Group’s Financial Framework.
Preparation of Audit Committee and Board papers at half-year end and year end.
Maintaining and continuously improving the contract review (TILTA) process including the objectives and identification of key accounting risk areas.
Managing the implementation of new accounting policies or changes in accounting policies with relevant business segments
Liaising with the external auditors to facilitate the statutory audit of the Qantas Group results
Managing the FCGSA process at half-year end and year-end including tailoring the questionnaire, hierarchy, ensuring completion and reviewing results. Consistently monitoring and identifying process improvement opportunities
Completion of ad hoc projects as instructed by management including but not limited to technical advice, system implementations, balance sheet reviews, , learning and development, controls documentation and testing, business acquisition and transaction assistance and advice

Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will possess:

A degree in a business related discipline, with specific finance and accounting emphasis
Accreditation with CA/CPA or equivalent
Previous experience within a similar role in an ASX listed corporate, with a proven track record of success and/or experience in a Big 4 Accounting firm
The ability to grasp complex issues and communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
A high level of business acumen and understanding of business drivers
Proven people management experience
The ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate effectively both written and oral
A strong analytical mindset with a meticulous eye for detail, whilst still being able to see the longer strategic vision for the group
The ability to work within deadlines with a high degree of flexibility and engage other employees to provide data as required
A good understanding of and experience in working with the Financial reporting systems
