Becoming a Delta Flight Attendant starts with an opportunity. An opportunity to learn the profession from the In-Flight Service professionals at Delta. Training is conducted at our training facility located at our world headquarters in Atlanta, GA. We anticipate training to begin in January 2016. During the anticipated 7weeks of training, you will receive training pay and dormitory-style housing if you reside more than 25 miles from the training location.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Perform required work duties in an aircraft environment, at an altitude of 8,000 feet.
Perform all work activities in accordance with established standards, policies, laws, and regulations, including Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
Serve as flight leader when needed to facilitate aircraft readiness by coordinating and managing crew activities.
Work both independently and as part of a team to accomplish work tasks.
Respond during emergency situations by effectively implementing instructions from the flight deck and following required safety and emergency procedures.
Guide or direct (verbally or non-verbally) passengers during emergency situations (such as evacuations) to minimize impact of the event and protect passengers and crew members.
Provide emergency medical assistance (e.g., performing CPR and basic first aid) to assist individuals in distress.
Ensure the aircraft and passengers are in full compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and safety measures.
Actively seek to ensure the safety and comfort of customers.
Provide exemplary customer service to satisfy and exceed customer expectations.
Provide assistance lifting and stowing luggage (including baggage, garments, and other items) into overhead bins or other storage areas and soliciting assistance when needed.
Attend to individuals needing special assistance (such as unaccompanied minors, individuals with a disability, and the elderly) throughout aircraft operations.
Prepare and serve meals, snacks, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Receive and process payments for purchased service items, such as alcoholic beverages, snacks, and headsets.
Maintain professional appearance and compliance with uniform and appearance guidelines while in public view (e.g. during commute, pre-flight activities, and flight operations).
Project and maintain a positive attitude and composure at all times.
Be dependable and committed to completing work assignments per the Delta standard.
Manage time to complete required work assignments and to ensure overall punctuality.
Make decisions to address issues keeping in-line with Delta policies, procedures, and core values.
Perceive, understand, and respond to written and oral communications and warnings.
Effectively communicate verbally to make onboard public address announcements, complete safety demonstrations, and provide instruction to others.
Communicate in writing to complete paperwork and detailed reports regarding incidents and/or discrepancies.
Use computers and computer systems to receive information, communicate with others, and to complete work tasks.
Adjust work activities to adapt to changing work conditions or issues, such as scheduling changes and reroutes.
Sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
Must be willing to open emergency exits and close aircraft doors weighing up to 60 pounds and push and pull heavy beverage/food carts requiring 32lbs of force when pushing or pulling.
Perform tasks that require frequent walking, bending to ankle level, and reaching above shoulder level and reaching inside overhead bins to retrieve or store items.
Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Requirements:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Eligibility


Must be authorized to work in the US.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must have valid passport or equivalent travel documents to freely enter and exit all destinations where Delta flies. US passport holders should have a minimum of 28 months of validity from the date of training.
Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and thereafter submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
Must be willing to comply with necessary pre-employment checks mandated by TSA and/or Department of Transportation.
Must pass a background check including a government required fingerprint-based criminal history records check.
Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Must read, write, speak, and understand English and Greek.
Must complete and pass an anticipated 7 week paid Flight Attendant training at the Atlanta training facility.

Willingness to adhere to Delta and airline policy

Must present a neat professional appearance and demeanor including adhering to Delta uniform and appearance guidelines.
Must be willing to work in close physical proximity to other people for extended periods of time.
Must be willing to work in situations with unpleasant, difficult, or discourteous individuals.
Must be willing to lead and guide others during high stress situations, such as medical emergencies or aircraft evacuations.
Must meet deadlines and manage unexpected changes in a time-sensitive and stressful environment.
Must be willing to serve alcoholic beverages, peanuts, and meals containing beef, pork and seafood.
Must be willing to use technology, such as computers, to accomplish work activities.

Willingness related to travel and schedule requirements

Must accept assignment to any Flight Attendant base after graduation from training, as dictated by the needs of the operation.
Must be willing to relocate to or commute (i.e. standby travel) to and from your assigned base location.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when needed.
Must be willing to travel for long stretches of time as part of the job.
Must be willing to change and adapt to meet the demands of the job, including dealing with scheduling changes on short-notice.
Must be willing to fly both International and Domestic routes.

Ability and willingness to perform physical demands of the job

Must be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
Must be willing to open emergency exits and close aircraft doors weighing up to 60 pounds as well as push and pull heavy beverage/food carts requiring 32lbs of force when pushing or pulling.
Must be able to reach into overhead bins and retrieve or store items.
Must be willing to stand for long periods of time (e.g., up to 4 hours).
Must be willing to work in tight working conditions that involve bending, stretching, and reaching to complete work activities.
