Thank you for inquiring about the opportunity to become a Flight Simulator Technician.
This position supports the Flight Operations division of Delta.
Job Summary: Performs maintenance functions of full flight simulators, flight training devices, cockpit procedure trainers and associated support devices in order to meet the requirements of the pilot and maintenance training departments. Corrects identified discrepancies by troubleshooting electronic, hydraulic, visual, pneumatic and mechanical systems. Installs, replaces, cleans, repairs and services various equipment including visual generation/display systems, motion systems, electronic circuit boards, computers, and circuits. Operates, programs and maintains pneumatic, SPX, EP, PC, Motorola, IBM and various other host and satellite computers. Performs periodic maintenance and diagnostics on computer and peripheral equipment. Operates and maintains electronic test equipment. Accomplishes pre-flight, morning readiness and FAA certification checks. Accomplishes software archiving functions. Utilizes simulator software utilities to troubleshoot simulator system discrepancies. Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Job Qualifications:
General knowledge of MPX and UNIX operating systems and of FORTRAN and C/C++ programming languages is desirable. Requires the ability to read and interpret electronic/electrical drawings, schematics and logic diagrams and be able to troubleshoot circuit cards to component level. Requires experience in operation of electronic test equipment in order to identify and correct malfunctioning systems. Requires ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic circuits, computers, visual generation/display systems, hydraulic systems, input/output systems, pneumatics, mechanical, and flight instrumentation. Formal technical electronics training or equivalent military training and previous simulator maintenance experience required. At least two or more years of previous simulator maintenance or relevant experience with a related A.S. or B.S. degree preferred. An understanding of aerodynamics and of commercial cockpit instrumentation and their relationship to the principles of flight are preferred. Must have the physical ability to climb and work from platforms/ladders and lift 50 pounds. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays. Must furnish personal tools as prescribed by Delta.
