Salary: Excellent (dependent on experience and qualifications)


The Role:

To advise and actively promote Health Safety and Environmental culture within all Gama (UK) Companies, on matters affecting the safety of employees and others, and also to assist in managing the environmental impact of our activities.

Responsibilities include:

Assisting managers with Risk Assessments and developing Safe Systems of work with managers to ensure appropriate risk mitigation is implemented
Identifying hazards within the workplace and assisting the Safety team to ensure that the Company is compliant with relevant Health Safety and Environmental legislation
Maintaining environmental management information including the aspects and impacts register and waste management records
Carrying out inspections and audits of the company’s UK premises and activities.
Supporting the Gama Health and Safety Representatives and maintaining competency
Working with managers on the practical application of Gama Group Health Safety and Environmental policy
Promoting safety culture, well being and influence positive change
Assisting the Health Safety and Environmental Manager with the organisation and delivery of training
Monitoring and investigating accident and incidents, work related ill health claims and environmental incidents as required
Producing management reports, bulletins and other communications
Assisting the Health and Safety Manager with ordering and allocating the type and use of Personal Protective Equipment, Work Equipment, etc
Using IT management tools to collate and promote policies, procedures and communication as well as updating and maintaining records
Supporting the Health Safety & Environment Team, and contributing to the business plans, policies procedures and other management objectives

Other areas of responsibility may also include:

Representing the HSE team at meetings commensurate with role
Coordinating and maintaining the emergency response for plans – including fire, first aid and environmental control.
Working with external organisations and contractors for the provision of services, delivery of training, and safe working practices.
Reporting to the Management Review team on environmental management including any opportunities for improvement.

Requirements:

The Person:

Will have excellent proven organisation and IT skills, through experience
Be a strong and positive communicator across all levels, when working with senior managers, employees and contractors
Will maintain professional knowledge of all Health and Safety and relevant Environmental legislation
Will be self-motivated with excellent time-management skills
Have the ability to travel UK wide



The following would be a distinct advantage:

To hold or be working towards NEBOSH Diploma;
To hold or be working towards Environmental Qualification (e.g. IEMA)
To maintain a membership of IOSH.
Experience in an engineering or aviation background

Work base:

Farnborough Airport, Hampshire – (with occasional travel to Fairoaks and other UK based Gama and Gama Engineering sites).

Ideally candidates will live within 25 miles and a 45 minute commute of Farnborough.
