Gama Aviation (Engineering) Ltd currently holds the following regulatory approvals:
EASA Part 145, FAR 145, EASA Part 21G, EASA Part 21J, EASA Part M, MAA MRP 145 and ISO 9001- and the requirement for a Quality Engineer is in support to the Head of Compliance, ensuring that the standards of the Compliance (Quality) System are maintained.
By assisting in the oversight and conducting audits, where appropriate, the Quality Engineer is assisting in ensuring compliance with EASA, FAA and other appropriate regulatory standards held by GAEL, thus maintaining a close liaison with the UK CAA and other Competent Authorities on matters affecting the approvals held.
The role is primarily based at our Oxford site, but may involve travel to the Farnborough main site and possible sites visits in the UK and overseas for the purpose of oversight and audit for all GAEL Part 145 activities, as well as other GAEL facilities and sub-contractors.
The Quality Engineer shall be responsible to the Head of Compliance (HoC) for:
Assisting in the implementation of the audit programme for all GAEL Part 145 activities ,to ensure that the organisation remains compliant with all aspects of the regulation and ensuring that such a programme is undertaken IAW the approved Audit Plan.
Situated at the Oxford site, be available to assist in the day to day activities of maintaining a Quality system ensuring oversight of the approvals held IAW the requirements as defined in the organisation’s exposition and associated supplements.
Carrying out compliance audits as defined above to the standards as specified by the Head of Compliance and to report such audits using the appropriate recording medium, Q-Pulse.
In conjunction with the HoC, promote the use of organisation`s regulatory documents.
In conjunction with the HoC, to promote and ensure the organisations Safety Management System remain effective.
Where delegated, to monitor sub contracted activities, by process of audit, ensuring that the subcontractor is capable and where necessary for that company to be approved by virtue of inclusion in the GAEL Quality System.
Carrying out the duties as promulgated in the exposition and Compliance Manual and any other duties as reasonably requested , which may involve limited assistance and oversight of the organisations other regulatory approvals , subject to additional training given.
Requirements:
The Person:
Possesses interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to compile written reports to a high standard.
Fully conversant with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Capable of working independently on own initiative , or as part of a team
Proactive with the ability to meet timescales
Has acute attention to detail commensurate with the job role
Has the flexibility to adapt to the needs of the organisation
Required Experience:
A minimum of 2 years previous Compliance/Quality Assurance experience, preferably gained in an aerospace organisation engaged in aircraft or component maintenance and repair / modification
Completed a recognised auditors course
Fully conversant with EASA Part 145, the regulatory structure and FAR 145 requirements.
Conversant with ISO9001 or a similar Quality Standard.
Has an understanding of ICAO SMS principles
Is able to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the Part 145 regulation to a standard acceptable to the UK CAA.
(Although not essential), has a basic understanding of other regulatory standards such as EASA Part M and Part 21G to which the organisation holds approval for.
Where deemed necessary, additional training will be given.
