The Qantas Group Safety Services team provides safety, health, security, and quality services to its customers across the Qantas Group. Working within Qantas Group Safety Services, the Analyst Safety role is responsible for providing safety performance data, findings and insights to customers including the compilation of management reporting, data quality assurance, analysis and analytics for Qantas.

This is a great opportunity to join a newly created team that supports safety activities across Qantas. The successful applicant will gain skills and experience in a broad range of safety and quality disciplines along with exposure to and understanding of the various airlines and operational departments within the Qantas Group.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Deliver to an agreed framework of reporting requirements as agreed with the Customer
Respond to ad-hoc data or reporting requests through the application of business knowledge and experience coupled with data from the various sources available (internal and external, as relevant)
Interpret data and provide report recipients with quantitative and qualitative analysis
Prepare graphs and tabular data presentations
Extract relevant data from a variety of data sources (internal and external as relevant) using high level query tools
Apply statistical analysis techniques and tools to the data to identify trends and patterns
Provide advice to business unit safety managers on findings and trends
Participate in audits, risk assessments, investigations and technical incidents (as relevant) by providing relevant data and data interpretation expertise.

Requirements:

What you'll bring to the role:

Tertiary qualification in Business, Aviation, Business Information Systems, Market Research, or relevant field
Demonstrated ability to understand commercial reporting requirements and develop business reports and specifications as required
Exposure and understanding of Safety systems in an airline or other highly operational businesses an advantage
Ability to manage and prioritise competing tasks to ensure deadlines are met
Highly self-motivated with a strong team spirit
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capability to interact effectively with senior management
A proven ability to work independently and achieve results; remaining flexible and responsive to changes in requirements
Maintains targets with broad guidance and direction and under strict time constraints in diverse and challenging environments
Sound experience in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Access, Project, Visio, flowcharting and database software.
